Chilling on mah couch. |
I like me some light sabre swinging action and would love a game like The Witcher, but Star Wars-y. Is this the one?
No, it is not.
I'll admit I am not that far in, so it hasn't quite hit full stride, but how long should one have to put up with shit before getting to the good bits?
On the one hand, it is a lot of fun when you successfully take down a bunch of guys. On the other hand, that doesn't seem to happen too often for me. The game wants to be Dark Souls with Star wars, which is fine I guess, but it doesn't have the refinement of combat to pull it off.
I guess its been fine for now, nothing great and nothing extremely terrible. Except for these goddam sliding sections, why the hell are they here? and why do they occur so often?
The graphics seem decent enough and it seems like EA were especially proud of your guy's hair physics, it is forever flowing in the win, or maybe the force. Some of the worlds are pretty cool though.
Hang on, I'm ranting a bit, lets get a bit of focus. The game wants to be too many things. There is Assassin's Creed climbing and Uncharted platforming, along with Dark Souls slightly shitty combat and some conversation choice selections. For some reason, I'm not able to successfully get the hang of combat and often get my ass kicked. I always seem to have trouble being able to tell when I've successfully blocked, or parried, or even when I've hit. The counters are kinda hard to time, high risk/reward and all that, but when I am defeated, that enemy keeps all my exp, so I have to go and smack them to get it back... Why?
Just recently, I came across the "Second Sister" evil Jedi lady who I am obviously going to lose to as it's way too early to properly fight her, and while its nice to go up against someone with proper force powers, and she is very strong (naturally), I noticed at many times, I emptied her energy bar, but somehow she gets a full bar back again.
Eventually I noticed that her energy recharges over time as well.
Why force me to fight a boss, in an unwinnable fight, and then give them regenerating health????
Between the janky platforming, slightly inconsistent fighting skills and weird loading I really don't see this game being all that amazing. However, since it is star wars and with Light Sabres, I am giving it a fair bit of time.
How generous of me. So far it fits completely into the "It's fine" category, but I could see it falling from that listing.
Also check out the eyes on this chick:
She is my pal at the moment, but my magical story skills tells me she will dick me over somewhere along the lines.
So, let's just say that it's not quite the ultimate Star Wars game I was looking for. I hope it improves
