LG43 Trypticon toy comic Translation!

TRYphead

***Updated with a better scan of the comic***

Hi guys n gals, Finally I’ve completed this epic piece of work.  What started out as fun ended up being a bit of a rush as I got into it.  The release of the second part to his prologue the day before I received the toy was a shock, but finally, I have here a translation of Trypticon’s in pack manga!
For those wondering, chronologically:

Then this one.

Massive thanks go to Big Angry Trev for providing me with a scan!  Get on over to his site for some interesting takes and views on the world.  He’s a great bloke!  He has done a comparison between the Hasbro and TT version of Trypticon/Dynazowra, so get there and have a look.  I’m not gonna spoil it for ya!

If I get a chance, I’ll work on getting a cleaner scan (amd I have) , but for now, this will do nicely!  Enjoy!  Oh as a bonus, I’ve done the bio as well.

LG43 Dinozaurer Trypticon Web Comic Translation Number 2

Header

Well, here is a tricky one.  It is listed as issue 44 on TakaraTomy's website, but its another web comic for #43 of the Legends Line.  It's the comic for Trypticon.    Webcomic #1 is here.
For the sake of history, first is the original Japanese comic, followed by my English Arrow help version and then a clean English version.

Once again, share and enjoy!

Legends Sky-byte or Gelshark Comic Translation

Here, ladies and gentlemen of the internet, I have to translation of Sky-byte’s Legends Comic.  At first I thought this would be an easy job, but as I was going, there was much struggling.  First challenge, are any of the boxes haikus?

The answer, no.  That was a relief.

The next step was some of the phrases were a bit odd.  But after some battling, I managed to work them out.

The final hurdle was whether to make everything use the Japanese names or English names.  For all the others, I tried to do a good translation by swapping names for their English versions whenever possible.

However, Gelshark here struck me with a unique problem.

If I called him Skybyte and had him as a Predacon, that means his enemy was Optimus Prime.   Yet on the second page, he refers to Optimus Prime as being “Fire Convoy’s overseas name.”
Bugger.
I thought I could’ve swapped the names around, BUT he ends up dressing up as Optimus Prime from TF4.  In the Transformers movies, even in Japan, Optimus is called Optimus (not Convoy as usual).  So for the joke to work I decided to go with the Japanese names of factions for this comic, so instead of being a Predacon, Gelshark (Not Skybyte) is a Destronger, Autobots are Cybertrons and Decepticons are Destrons.

So, now that’s out of the way, please enjoy Sky-byte’s Gelshark’s comic translation.

(Oh, his Legends’ toy review is here)

(And the TFCC toy review is here)

Spider Lady of the Transformers

BlackarachniaHeader
Blackarachnia, I am never too sure of how to spell her name to be honest.  Quite a whacky thing.  I’ve always liked Blackarachnia as she got some good character development throughout the Beast Wars show, but never bothered with the toy as it didn’t look anything like her.
Now TakaraTomy have used the Animated Blackarachnia’s body with a few changes to make a BW accurate version.  Let’s check this femme-bot Fatale out shall we?

Generations Waspinator

2waspinatorhead
Waspinator was an excellent character from Beast Wars and I loved that over all the characters, he was one of the few that didn’t get a Transmetal upgrade in the cartoon, he did however have excellent characterisation!  I ended up getting the Beast Wars toy from the 10th Anniversary lot that came out and the show inspired colours were good and the toy was pretty nice as well.

When I first saw this guy, I thought I would pass, as the original is pretty damn good.  I naturally caved and well…. Here we are.

Who’s the smartest shark in town?

 Skybbyteheader
Skybyte! That’s who!!

I really like Skybyte, he was an ace character in the Robots in Disguise TV show, being the second in command of the Decepticons (well, for a while anyway) and while I thought the Collector’s Club recolour of Skybyte was a nice effort, I really wanted to see more of the guy.  Luckily for me, someone at TakaraTomy felt the same way and now I have the Transformers Legends Gelshark (as this is the Japanese version!). Yaay!

Return of the Beasts, Lazerback

Lazerback

Lazerback, my first try of the new line of toys from Hasbro and the Transformers Prime line.  They have reinvigorated the line with beast modes and cleverly named it “Beast Hunters,” at the same time reviving the love for Predacons and yet kind of just messing about a bit.  It reminds very strongly of the Snake-men line that ran with He-man and the Masters Of the Universe on the 2000s a bit too much for some reason.  Especially since in regard to the Autobots and Decepticons, we are getting already released figures with a slight bit of retooling to make them look like they are from a Mad-Max movie…

I bought this guy mainly to see how the beast modes are, just to get a feel for them, plus I do quite like the look of the Beast mode and also make a sweeping judgement on how the ‘Beast Hunters’ line would hold up.  How does it compare to the regular Prime line?

Interview with Sumo's Gareth Wilson on Sonic Transformed

Might be a bit old now, well 13 days old now... But here is an interesting interview with Gareth Wilson about Sonic Racing Transformed which is a pretty good read and rather sadly has some bad news for my hopes for an awesome character, but does explain perhaps where he has been the past years.

Oh woe is Wonderboy...

Anyway, it's interesting, goes off on a bit of tangent at points, but stick it out as it is interesting.

Here it is on Spong.com, a site I have never heard of before, but wooo!

Another dragon for the new year.

BMHd
So I have been thinking about my previous post about TM2 Megatron and colours and a lack of dragons, when really, there are quite a few dragons in Transformers.  Slowly but surely they are making their way from the deep dark (occasionally dank) recesses of my mind and a really obvious one is of course, Beast Machines Megatron.

There is also Scourge/ Flame Convoy from Galaxy Force.  I have also dug up another. Pics soon.

PREDAKING! Is all that needs to be said.

I went on about this guy briefly when he arrived.  I have played and I have enjoyed, What a beastly beast man!  No wonder the Predacons are the baddest of the combiner groups!

Botcon 2010 Sky-Byte review

The theme for Botcon 2010 was a Generation 2 Redux.  Most of the toys were G2 inspired, but for some reason, we seem to have gotten a version of Sky-Byte from the RID series.  He is just a re-colour of an Energon series figure, and yet it works well and looks good.
