Masterverse Scareglow text review.

Tried composite photography here, combining three different exposures of the same shot.

I like a bit of He-man and the Masters of the Universe figuration every now and then, and one I really love is Scareglow.  I had no idea about this dude until I managed to find out about the MOTU Classics Version and managed to score on back in the heady days of 2011.  It really showed me how cool a GITD figure could be!  I'll freely admit that I've always thought GITD is great, but Scareglow really extended the possibilities!

Now with the new, but now old Masterverse cartoon which came out on er, Netflix? they made a new version of Scareglow too.  So, I managed to get one of them too!  Woot! Let's check him out.

Age of the Primes Megatronus The Fallen - A text review

Well lookee here, my first Age of the Primes figure.  This line is apaprently going to have a focus on the Thirteen Primes, essentially the first guys of Transformers.  Or whatever.  TBH, I care very little about the Thirteen Primes, but they do have some interesting toys.  Er, Well, one?  Is Star Convoy one of the Thirteen?  I have no idea, also I believe they've called him Star Optimus Prime.  Yeah, I know that Str Convoy was a reborn G1 Convoy, so I guess Star Optimus Prime makes perfcet sense, but it just sounds unwieldy.  When I get mine, he will be solely called Star Convoy.

However this is a post about the also unwieldly named "Megatronus The Fallen." So let's have a look.

Legends Sunfire Age of Apocalypse

Well, this is a story and a half.  I imported this guy, along with AOA Weapon X and Sabretooth as at the time, they were the only toy representations of the Age of Apocalypse X-Men figures.  If you haven't checked out those pots yet, please do so.  Oddly I was fairly positive that he was made by Toybiz (now gone), but he was ACTUALLY made by Hasbro.  So, there ya go. In case you were wondering.

To summarise my feels, Age of Apocalypse was the series that got me into the X-Men and comics that weren't Transformers (eventually I was a rabid Sonic comic guy too).

If I remember correctly, there was some limitation to this guy, as in shop or something.  He definitely wasn't a regular release.  ** Sometime later.**  After a bit of searching, Sunfire here was part of a vote through ye olde toilet reading Toyfare magazine.  The toilet reading is a compliment of the highest regard.  I loved that goddam magazine when it was alive.

Ok let's go!

Tets goes to the Yokohama Doll Museum (to see Transformers!)

The Yokohama Doll Museum happens to have a Transformers exhibition on at the moment (25 May until 30 June 2019).  Since I hadn’t heard about this place before and a brief look at their website has images linking to a cafe with promising coffee options, I decided to go and have a look.

Make sure your Badge is straight.

Umhead
One day a long time ago, Ultra Magnus was released in the Masterpiece line.  I bought him, but he was just a white Optimus.  That sucked a bit.  Then many years later, he was released again in the Masterpiece line.  This is not a blog post about that toy.  This is a post about a cheaper and better toy.

Cafe Doraemon #3 ;Fill in post

IMG_20150926_223614
A trip into the city looking for some nice office supplies has provided me with the opportunity to get some fun goods, so while I am in the process of, um, processing the 150 *ahem* odd pictures I took of Ultra Magnus   (ಥ﹏ಥ), I’ve decided to take some lazy arse phone pictures of my toys and this awesome Doraemon Cafe food prop things set.   It is #3 of 8.  But the  only one I have.

Tets Plays with toys: Star Sabre & Exhaust

If you have been following my twitter and Instagram, you will probably have seen what I have been doing lately.  Now, it turns out that I took quite a few more photos than I initially intended.

A by-product of a fun toy it would seem.

So here is a super lazy collection of those phone pictures in one spot.  I think some people would refer to this as a "Pictorial Review," but I won't.  If there is no opinion, there is no critical evaluation = not a review.  So I find it unlikely that a post full of pictures only is a review.  Maybe they just forgot about the word gallery.  Rant over.

Yay.

Going as south east as I have ever been.

Generally every February/Marchish time of year I try and take the better half for a little getaway.  We’d been to Busselton a number of times and this time decided for a change.  We settled on going to Esperance as neither of us had been there before.

Electro Disruptor Mirage

Miragehead
I’ve been meaning to get to this guy for a while.  I took the photos almost three years ago now and my experience (or lack thereof) with less colourful characters seems to show a bit in these photos.  I have decided to use them and have this post show on the 16th July 2013.  three years after I took the photos, as a sort of archival piece of sorts.  I’ll probably get around to redoing this as my skills and camera have developed and I think there is a lot of potential for this guy to be fun to photograph.  Even more so than Ghost Starscream.

It also helps that the figure itself (a recoloured Classics toy) is very good.

3rd Birthday Post and and Beast Wars Heinlad

Woooo!  Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, I am proud to announce that through some remarkable show of both effort and resilience that I have been running this blog for a mighty three years!  Happy Birthday Tets’ Toys & Shenanigans!

I first started this blog as a way to use the photos of my toys that I enjoyed taking so much, but would never get around to doing anything with.  It has worked beautifully in one respect failed in another.  It has worked as I do get a way to share my photos that I enjoy taking so much.  It has failed however in that now I have a hard drive full of pictures that I have taken “for my blog.”  Oh well.  You win some, you lose some.  On the plus side, I still enjoy taking pictures, as well as doing posts for my blog, although sometimes it can be a fair bit of work to get done.  I initially intended to have a post every couple of days, but that is quite a bit of work.  But there ya go, I am happy with the way things are at the moment and update when I can.  After all I don’t want to over do it and begin hating the things I love.

I’ve met a great bunch of dudes as well.  Special “howdies” go out to Westen who has a developing blog and youtube channel.  His video is a bit choppy, but he says some good stuff.  Drunketh from Horror movies and Beer for some incredibly amusing reviews of videos, movies, toys and of course beers. Gord, Colby, Heroic Decepticon and everybody else for the interaction and motivation and um, browse-ivation ( ?).

And so, to celebrate I have dedicated this post to the 3rd Anniversary.  Why?  Because it is the most amusing (quirky?) Beast Wars figure I know of.  Heinlad.  And I think that may summ up my blog effectively…

Legends Archangel

Archangelhead
So this is the spoils of my might Toys R Wot?? Adventure.  Ever since I saw him in the comic, I have had a soft spot for Archangel.  This can definitely be attributed to his sweet ass wings.  Man I always wanted some of my own.  They look so cool.  I think ages ago I picked up a little toy of Archangel, it had firing missile things on his wings, but they just didn’t have that “Wow” factor that Archangel’s wings need.  I have since lost/gave away that little fella and have been waiting for an appropriately wowsome figure since.

I knew of a few of the old Marvel Legends made by Toy Biz all those years ago and liked quite a few of them.  thinking back I should have picked some up, after all they were only $15 and that was when the Australian dollar was a lot weaker, so they were pretty good value for money, but I was getting out of general characters and focussing on Transformers.

On my recent travels for Masterpiece Transformers, I discovered this nice version of Warren in the Legends line, which has been taken over by Hasbro.  It’s nice to finally see larger figures back, but sadly the price has jumped up to $30.  Still I guess they are better value than the $18 4 inch figures we get.  Is he worth it?

Last day of too much food.

And here we are, on the final day of the holiday and desperately trying to cram in a few final bits of fun before I head back home to the unorganised drudgery of Australia again.  Whenever I go to Japan, there are three foods that I really looks for:

  • Melon Pan
  • Mr Donuts
  • Mos Burger

Ok. Only one of those is a food.  The other are food chains…  oh well.

Thus commences the adventures of :

Forgetting stuff, traditional food and Thermae Romae.

In my amazing, feverish fervour, I managed to forget to include some photos that should have been included in the August the 4th post…  The most annoying thing of all though was that I was actually looking for the these particular photos….

So I will carry on.  In my last post I mentioned briefly fireworks and children.  A winning combination in anyone’s language.  On a side note, I have an extra gig of ram in my little lap top and it’s running like a dream.    Anyway, back to the photos!!

After the jump.

Cup Noodles, Afros and Yokohama

So, after quite a long while of distractions, I have finally decided to pull my finger out and finish off the holiday I had in Japan last year.

>_>

Yearp, you heard right.

Happy New Year

Yes, I realise it's late, but sadly my ongoing internet/phone connection issues are still in full swing.  That's a blog post in itself....

So for now I am satiating myself with these little video posts which I can do by abusing my position at work (and more to the point their internet).

I went down to the beach on NYE to watch the sun set for the last time.  And in typical nobby fashion forgot to take my camera, so these are on the better half's camera.  And I had the settings on lowish quality video.

Nevertheless, enjoy the photos.

Weird sandwiches, bizarre hotels and more people than I have ever seen before!

1st and 2nd of August.

Oh my, the previous day’s practise with my new camera was all for now.  Let’s just hope that the controls are under my understanding…  For a trip to Niigata was on the cards.  Why, for some impressive fireworks.  We were booked onto a tour bus and had to meet in Tokyo with the guide for another shinkansen ride to the hotel.

Shopping and Cowboys. Way to go!

1st August.

Forgot to mention on the way back from the Dinosaurs and mabodofu, I dropped by Yodobashi camera and made the purchase to replace my humble camera.  Sure, I only mentioned the failings of my camera yesterday but I have been aware of these issues before, so I have been looking into new cameras and decided upon one.  So today’s adventures are full of photos with my new camera.  Huzzah!  It has a heap of different photo shooting filters, one of which I am very happy about and a slow motion video option!  Niiiice.  More on my new camera later.

Um, so today was my day to myself until the afternoon, so I headed out to check out Toys R Us as I usually do, hopefully to make me think that Toys R Us is actually a decent toy store somewhere.  I also ventured out to a family restaurant that was ALWAYS packed whenever we walked by.  A good sign of decent food surely?

Iron Chef, Dinosaurs and old friends showing their age.

31 July.

Quite a bit to do today.  Once I managed to get motivated we headed off to Landmark Tower in Yokohama for a Dinosaur exhibition.  We started out kind of late and so by the time we got to Yokohama it was time for lunch.

Another Lazy day and sunsets.

26th July

Well, really that should be sunset, as there can only be one per day, unless you do some tricky flying or time travel shenanigans.  Buuuut Whatever.  The end result is I had some damn amazing sushi and spied a rather nice Japanese sunset, which ended with me running around the suburb looking for a good vantage point.  I think I found one eventually.

Nagano, Manza onsens and Outlet stores.

22-23rd July.

In the vein of visiting onsens (hot springs) and the like, parts of the family met up and off we went to the wonderful place of Nagano to visit the Manza Prince Hotel which is generally a ski-resort.  During the summer, you can generally stay at ski resorts for a cheap visit and they also often have onsens.  Wheee! off we go!
