The Legend of Zelda–Quick review

A Link Between Worlds.

What a wonderful little game this is.  Over the past few weeks I got a copy and had a play through of this on my 3ds and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Nendoroid Kirby Video review

Here's a review of Nendoroid Kirby, made by the people at Good Smile Company, the very same that bring us the delightful figmas!  YAY!

I don't generally like Nendoroids, the dimensions are generally a bit ugly looking to me, but I have a couple in my collection.  Kirby however doesn't bother me, because the small, pudgy dimensions fit him fairly well.

Enough blab!  Watch the videooooooo!

Why I love Majora's Mask

When I got my 3DS, it was purely for Ocarina Of Time.  I have good memories of having a friend's N64 and OoT.  I played that game so much over the weekend that my eyes couldn't focus on things further than 10m away for a couple of days.

I'll admit, I was a little worried but they got back into shape soon enough.

Later I had the chance to played Majora's Mask and even though it was obvious that the game used recycled models quite heavily, I came to enjoy it even more than OoT.  Which, by looking at opinions on the internet seem to be in the minority.

Now that I am playing through MM on the 3DS, I thought I would share some reasons why I prefer MM to OoT.

Let’s Play! Super Mario! Figuarts that is!

Boo boo boo bo boo boop!
Super Mario.  The Chubby Brooklyn plumber from Platforming days of yore.  And now I guess.  He has somehow managed to lack rather nice action figure, which is fine as I need a fat guy to launch an assault on the poor animal/plant kingdom of Marioland and now I have one.  Hmm, makes me wonder what Marioworld was called before Mario invaded actually.

Anyway, slightly drunken musings out of the way, I have in sights my newly arrived Figuarts Super Mario figure made by the good people at Bandai.  I picked this guy from my Post box today and yesterday being a public holiday over east, my work was a little slow coming in and as a result, I had time to play.  Sadly I didn’t have my good camera, so here I have a special Work Desk Dodgy Busy Background and Phone Pictures Review! ™

Tatsunoko Vs Capcom Character Collectin’

x-default
Crazy Old me and my fascination for figures from video games.  Sort of going along the lines of attempting to get the characters from the good old Vs. Capcom series of games (X-Men, Marvel Super Heroes, Marvel etc.) I had the rather pleasant opportunity to play Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom on the wii in both it’s original Japanese iteration and the rather changed English release.

Sadly though it also opened up my needs for a whole butt load more characters to add to my growing list of video game toy needs.  Most of which I did not know. I’d never heard of Gold Lightan, Tekkaman, Hurricane Polimar and a bunch of others before from the Tatsunoko side of things.   Luckily there were a couple I did know such as Ken the eagle and Jun the Swan from Gachaman (Battle of the Planets/G-Force) which I have always liked and the Capcom Roster was pretty good with Megaman and Roll added in for good measure as well as Yami from Okami and I always though Ammy was a shoe-in for this game, but she appeared in Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 (Yay!). I also liked how they adapted for the 3 button attacks and the slight changes to certain character’s move sets, such as Ryu.  But this isn’t a post about the game, this is about this toy.

I hadn’t heard of Tekkaman Blade until that game.  I also hadn’t had much to do with Bandai figures at the time, except for my limited knowledge of Chogokin (which was good), as a result, it was in my brain that this guy was a part of the Chogokin line.  Which he isn’t.  Sadly this affected my view of the toy somewhat as I was expecting some chunky metal awesomeness…

Flowers and shopping.

25th July

A bit of a lazy day after the travel of the previous ones.  So not much to report here.  I amused myself by taking some shots of the flowers blooming rather nicely in the garden and we went to Yodobashi camera for a bit of omiyage (or maybe not ) shopping.

Mmmm! hobby Nom NOMs!

I was trying to avoid putting up my gets post coz it could be boring.  But here is something that I am too excited about.  Transformers awesomeness and Masters of the Universe greatness!

Firstly the good one!

After my Transmetal Megatron broke while I was preparing him for photos, I found out he is prone to the dreaded GPS (Gold Plastic Syndrome), which means crumbly weak plastic.  What I didn’t realise is that it’s not only metallic colours that are prone to GPS, so I was thinking the metallic plates that form the Dinosaur were fragile.

No, it turns out the GPS plastic is the BROWN plastic that only happens to consist of, oh I don’t know, about 80% OF HIS ROBOT BODY!!!!!  So the Japanese one doesn’t suffer this, to get one cheap, I had to go onto Yahoo auctions Japan for a nice cheap one.  Which, as anyone new to eBay will know, auction sites are deadly, but I’ll get into that later.

I ended up finding a lovely “Kettou Beast Wars”  for the GBA and more importantly, a MISB Headmasters for the Nintendo Famidisk system.  From 1987.  Yes, MISB!  I thought the auction was telling me furfies, but blow me down, it i, with original seal and all.

More on them in greater detail later.

Next up, MOTUC joys.

Panthor for my Skeletor to ride against He-Man and Battlecat.  It’s HUGE!  and Fearless Photog!  Being a projectionist, I couldn’t resist this guy.  Love it!  The best part is, the story behind the character creation and he is silly enough to fit into the MOTU universe quite happily!

One Happy chappy I be!

Gaming Grail pt2. Convoy no Nozo

neshd
Thanks to a friend of mine going on a well deserved holiday, and allowing himself to be put to work for me, in finding this awesome little fellow that I have been after for a number of years now.

It’s a sexy copy of the relatively awful NES game ‘Convoy no nozo’ or Mystery of Convoy.  Only released in Japan in 1986, it is a left to right scrolling shooter where you play as Ultra Magnus.

Quick fix, Linebeck!

linehd

Being addicted to plastic Crack,  I occasionally need a quick fix from the local gashapon machine.  Every now and then I really find a cracker.  this day I managed to come across a nice Legend Zelda Phantom Hourglass thing.  As an extra bonus, I managed to get the rather cool character Linebeck.  Woot!

New Super Mario Powers?!?!???

marboll

Super Mario and Luigi (why doesn’t he ever get called Super Luigi?  After all the title is Super Mario Bros. not Super Mario.) always seem to nab new powers in their games.  Mario galaxy gave us bee Mario, Galaxy 2, cloud Mario, Mario World, Raccoon/Tanuki Mario and the list goes on.  I think I found a new one.

Reasons why I love my job.

Many many years ago, I made a vow to play Sonic the hedgehog on a screen so large he was the same height as me.  well thanks to my position at work, I can say that I have accomplished that.

Sonic Colours on Wii. Yay or nay?

I have been surprised by the Wii lately, games I actually want to play onit?!???  Goldeneye 007, Kirby's Epic Yarn, and Sonic colours have shown up.  I have said it once and I will say it again, I love Sonic the Hedgehog, I just hope this game doesn't break my heart like all Sonic games since Sonic Adventure series on Dreamcast...

Okamiden, Chiisaku Taiyou Special Edition.

Man, I just couldn't wait for this!  When I found out about Okamiden (sequel to the brilliant but generally unsold Okami) I knew I would have to get the Japanese version while it was being translated.

THEN I found out about the special edition.  Sadly too late though...
