G2 Stunticons New Legends Manga Translation - Speedia 500 Mystery pt 1 of 2

 

Hello everyone.  This G2 Stunticons comic is 24 pages long.  The longest I've ever worked and on I feel I am making steady progress.  I am now 50% through and thought instead of waiting, I am going to post the ones I've finished now. However, I do want to address something first:

There can be only one. (apparently)

It seems my translations caught some attention, I got sent a link to some comments from people who had also done a translation of the previous chapter, Green Lio Convoy.  They were critical though vague.  Naturally I was slightly irritated at first, but luckily one of the commenters provided a link to their work.

And my irritation ceased.   I can see the other group? Person? and I have different philosophies of translation.  My translation of the comics doesn't negate the existence of others' translations and theirs doesn't negate mine.  The two can exist at the same.  Until there is a professional, officially licensed translation of these things, there is no point in declaring one fan translation "The correct one."  Even official translations' can vary in tone and interpretation.

That's just the nature of language.  Japanese and English don't have exact matches.  Sometimes they do and trust me, that is the rarity.  That is why machine translation produces the "almost, but not quite" results that it does.

 I'm welcome to valid criticisms and sure, some of the were valid, I am a very sloppy typer, so typos probably snuck through, but translating isn't my job. I don't get paid for this and it does cost me time and effort to do it. 

 I do this for funsies and I hope the people that read them get the feeling that the comics are fun, because they are!  These Legends comics are great fun!  They are not classical epics meant for historical study after we're all gone.  They are sometimes(often) silly comics with silly jokes and silly situations and that is what I want to convey.

Random comments:

• Motormaster seems  a lot more friendly than the bully we expect him to be.
• This comic is a lot of fun, with lots of little Stuncticon personality points popping up.
• Nemesis Navigation AI talks like a female.
• I had to watch some Cyberverse cartoons to understand why Shadowstriker ends her sentences with Shadow and I was disappointed to see that they copy the same effect for other characters as well, Shockwave finishing his sentences with Shock for example.  Strange Tets.
• I was also saddened to see the sad state of my Bounty Hunter Lockdown in the show.  He deserves better than that!

Also, I'm slightly relieved that Nemesis Prime is only 8 pages.  Should be a cake walk!  (sweat emoji goes here)
