Beast Machines NightSlash Cheetor review

I am going to go out on a limb here and assuming that this figure isn't about needing to go for a wee at night time.

Ah Beast Machines, you were an odd beast(machine).  I quite enjoyed the TV show and the Cult like Optimus Primal, although it bothered me that the toys rarely looked like the dudes on TV.  Rhinox / Tankor was quite rememberable and Megatron and the whole Noble/Savage things was pretty cool as well as I remember.  Originally I picked up the Blue Oprimus Primal as my one and only BM figure, as it was, well, Optimus Primal.  Eventually I expanded out and got a few more, but I left Cheetor alone.  Mainly because the most common Cheetor around was the Supreme ( ?) class Cheetor that was obscenely huge and shelf warmed for decades.  Ah the youtube of olden days.

Anyway, moving on, I did end up picking up Nightslash Cheetor because I thought he had a cool design.  And here is my review of the toy.

The Ambition of Liege Maximo : Legends Manga Vol 5 Translation Complete.

Woot, here I am with another.   Oddly while this one focuses on Gigastorm, the title is all about Liege Maximo.  As usual read from left to right with this one.

Oh, if you wish to mirror these on another site (that may, or may not generate income through ads), a link to my humble blog page would be much appreciated instead of stealing all the clicks.  I believe is standard webtiquette.

Thanks

New Legends Manga Translation Vol 4 - Nemesis Star Convoy - Complete!

The Evil God's Star.

Oh baby.  I was most excited about this for a couple of reasons.  The first being, I love Star Convoy and the Nemesis Colouration looks fantastic.  Did they miss an opportunity by calling him "Black Star Convoy"?  The jury is out.  The second was, er... I can't remember now, but it probably has something to do with getting Galaxy Force more love.

Oddly it took me a while to work out what the title meant.  Like obviously Evil God can only be Unicron, but the star thing took me a while.  While the title used the kanji for star, which can be translated into Star, planet, world for example, my sudden epiphany was that the "Star" that belongs to the evil god is AKCHUALLY Star Convoy.  That makes perfect logical sense.

ON TOP OF THAT, I initially thought that Nemesis Star Convoy was an evolved form of Nemesis Convoy. However this is not that case.

There are also a while bunch of clever use things going on, like Nemesis Convoy's trailer spawning billions of Scourge (Nemesis Prime) clones and all sorts of other clever stuff.

Read on for more.

New Legends Manga translation VOl 3 -G2 Stunticons complete!

FINALLY!

I finished this mammoth task.  Wow, this was a big one for a couple of reasons. 24 pages are a lot of pages.  Editing the effects was a difficult task.

However I feel I did learn a lot on this and I really enjoyed doing it.  This volume is a lot of fun and the Stunticons are very cute in this.  It is essentially a story of bonds being broken and then ...

REUNITED (will make sense as you read it).

*I took down the old post as I went back and fixed up earlier pages term and story consistency.

Read this baby left to right! usual random ass comments at the end.

Green Lio Convoy, New Legends Manga Translation

Welp, it's started again!  Here I am with the continuation of the Legends manga, which interestingly started back with the release of Dark Amber Leo Prime, a masterpiece figure of all things.  This one took some time, as I had to research a fair bit of BWII, then timey wimey and it's timing at release was a busy time for me.

However, here we go.

Blokees Galaxy Series 04 Fractured Dimensions

More Blokees here.  On the one hand, I find them fun and engaging when getting a look at them one by one, but when I do these photo shoots with the whole series, I really see how similar they are and their minor flaws.  Blokees are definitely a case of less is more.

This is a look at series 04, which they call Fractured Dimensions, despite all the series fracturing dimensions in some aspect or another.

Once again, I got the official figures from the Chinese release and I nabbed the whole set.  Magnus, Snarl, Shockwave and the Constructicons were the major players on my hit list, but then looking at the Nemesis Prime, I decided he was cool enough, so Smokecreen and Tarn are just bonus figures.

In this release we got, eh, I just named them all up there... Shockwave is the one with the limited Variant, which I did not get.

Masterverse Scareglow text review.

Tried composite photography here, combining three different exposures of the same shot.

I like a bit of He-man and the Masters of the Universe figuration every now and then, and one I really love is Scareglow.  I had no idea about this dude until I managed to find out about the MOTU Classics Version and managed to score on back in the heady days of 2011.  It really showed me how cool a GITD figure could be!  I'll freely admit that I've always thought GITD is great, but Scareglow really extended the possibilities!

Now with the new, but now old Masterverse cartoon which came out on er, Netflix? they made a new version of Scareglow too.  So, I managed to get one of them too!  Woot! Let's check him out.

Pirate Body Stray Marion Build post. - Link Travelers

Ah Link Travelers, Gashapon Quest follow on and Slightly irritating wave spreading summabeech that you are. Here I will go over the build for the Pirate version of ノラマリオン - Stray Marion that came with the Candy set.

This is what the candy boxes look like after being ripped open,

Yes, distribution is a total pain in the arse with the Link Travelers.  They have gacha in the balls.  Gacha online.  Candy sets, which involves lucky dip things, which I never seem to see in store, but to be honest with the way things are spread out you are better just buying a complete box online anyway....

I digress, much of that ranting I will cover in an up and coming review.  Here I will painstakingly

Pain

Staking

LY

Go through the building process of Pirate mode Nora Marion here.  As a slight aside, I quite dig the pirate theme and I like the look of this figure.

Androgyne's Toys and Games of 2025

2025 turned out to be a pretty expensive year with the amount of good shit to buy. Most of this wrapup was written while the things were still fresh in my mind so it's a bit longer than normal. Let's get into it then!

Tets Plays: Marvel's Spiderman 2

A.K.A This is not the Spiderman you are looking for.

After finally nabbing a Playstation 5, I wandered around and grabbed a copy of Marvel's Spiderman 2.  I rather enjoyed the first one on PS4 and thought the disc based DLC of Spiderman: Miles Morales was pretty well done.  Even though it used the same map and engine, and the story was extremely predictable, it did a lot to enhance the swinging mechanic of the first game (which was already pretty good) and I felt satisfied with its budget price.

Now, Spiderman 2 is loaded in and I've spent about  bhours messing about with it and feel like I have a pretty good feel for it.

To be completely honest, it feels like a bit of a downgrade from the first.

Let me justify my thoughts:

A Text Review of Mario Kart DS

Ah Nintendo DS. It wasn’t doing much for me initially - none of the games seemed interesting and that phat original hardware wasn’t very appealing at all. On the other hand, the PSP looked cool as fuck and had Wipeout Pure, which basically the instant I saw, completely sold me on getting one. I got that in Japan on September 15 2005, when the white model came out, although Wipeout had to wait until I returned to Australia since I couldn’t find a copy over there! Anyway, I was firmly in the PSP camp in those early days.

A Text Review of Mario Kart Double Dash

Everyone remembers how Nintendo showed off that “realistic” Zelda back at Spaceworld 2000, only to come back a year later with The Wind Waker and piss everyone off for a good while. They had a bad habit for a while there. No one remembers that the Wave Race shown at the same event looked like a silky smooth update to the original but came back as the not-quite-that Blue Storm. And later at E3 2001, they’d pull the same shit with Mario Kart for Nintendo GameCube too.

A Text Review of Mario Kart Super Circuit

After disappointing literally everyone with Mario Kart 64, it’s no surprise that Nintendo went back to what worked in the original with the next iteration on Game Boy Advance.

A Text Review of Mario Kart 64

Being… hmm, old-ish I guess, I thought the general opinion of Mario Kart 64 was pretty positive. Most often when the subject came up, it usually turns/devolves into a discussion about whether MK64 or Diddy Kong Racing was the better of the kart games on N64 (forgetting Mickey’s Speedway USA altogether - the curse of late releases strikes again!). Perhaps i’ll review DKR at some point too, because that is an interesting comparison. But nowadays, i’m seeing more and more opinions that shove MK64 at or near the bottom of best Mario Kart rankings. It’s arguable if that even means it’s a bad game, considering something has to be at the bottom, doesn’t it? But a lot of those opinions are rife with misunderstanding of the game, just like the original SMK. Perhaps it finally got old enough to be assessed by another generation of players. So once again I’m struck with a need to delve into it and deliver the correct verdict as only my opinionated ass can!

A Text Review of Super Mario Kart

What is a hardcore Mario Kart player? That was the question i found myself pondering as I watched yet another “Mario Kart World Sucks!” video on YouTube the other day. Skimming the comments i saw this pearler: “It’s because Nintendo doesn’t care about the die hard, passionate fans who grew up with these games. Nintendo’s biggest market right now are casuals and newbie gamers. That’s who they’re making games for now. Not You.”

Transformers Legacy eDgEloRd - AKA Tarn

Having previously described this guy as abusive in my yearly wrap up post of 2023, I've finally taken some time to tale some pictures of the guy.  In that yearly wrap up, I said

"OOoh, this is a tricky one.  I remember loving the look of him in pictures, and on the box and initially when I got the toy, but somewhere I came to the conclusion, he looks all right, but he just isn't very Transformer-y.  The lean robot mode does feel very comic book, but not quite Transformers.  The tank mode falls entirely into the horrible category of "Folded up robot, that makes a space tank" and while that is kinda Transformer-y, it's also lazy and disappointing.

I like Tarn for being something different, but also dislike it for the same reason.  It's weird, I'm not able to reconcile my feelings for him.

What an abusive relationship we must have."

And I stand by that statement.  Now though, I would like to delve deeper into my thoughts.

SEGA Shop, Capcom Shop. Tets goes to these as well.

On the same day that I went to the Transformers meets Japan popup shop, I decided to hit up the newly opened SEGA shop, as it also happens to be in Shibuya, hiding within the Parco building, which was just around the corner.

Incidentally, on the same floor was the also relatively newly opened Nintendo shop, a Capcom shop and a Godzilla shop.

Tourists were everywhere!
